How many times have you listened to a song on the radio that you never heard before, but you instantly loved it? You wait patiently for a whole block of songs to finish so the DJ will identify the song, only to find that they rarely do that anymore. Not knowing the name of the song or the artist can be a very frustrating feeling. Soundhound can take care of this common annoyance. With a simple click of a button Soundhound hears your song and begins its search. It only takes about 10 seconds to determine the artist and title. Once the song is identified, Soundhound displays the song title, artist, and album. Bobby Taylor, a junior at Miramonte said, "I like this more than Shazam because Soundhound is actually able to identify songs that aren't included on iTunes." You also have the option to look the song up on YouTube, or bookmark the song so you can view it later. And if you really like the song, there is a link to download it (depending on if it is available on Amazon or iTunes). Two outstanding features of this app are the ability to look up lyrics for the song, and the ability to look up future concert dates (if any) for the artist. Douglas McKinley, a junior at Miramonte said, "Those features make Soundhound one of the best song identifying apps on the market."

Eric Pawlakos is a junior at Miramonte High School. When not at school he can be found playing rugby with Lamorinda Rugby, or learning guitar.
